"Introducing the Digital Library on American Slavery"

The Digital Library on American Slavery (DLAS) compiles public records focused upon race and slavery in the American South, and makes them searchable through a single, simple interface. Although the current focus of DLAS is sources associated with North Carolina, there is considerable data contained therein relating to all 15 slave states and Washington, D.C., including detailed personal information about enslaved, enslavers, and free people of color.Documents include court records, deeds, and runaway slave notices.
Jan Arny found one of his ancestors in the collection--Dr Squire Lea. He was a doctor who sent an invoice to a slave holder in Mississippi for treating one of the slaves for a sickness. Please put this notice on your ward Facebook page and let those in your ward and the community know of this opportunity.
